Stephen and a view of the lake and a sketch that one of the Elders in his apartment drew of him!

10/28/13

So there wasn't much in the way of a letter this week but TONS of pictures!!!

Well I love all the pictures but Shelby looks way to happy and a lot like Aunt Lacy. I just hope she kept her standards like she knows she should. Shae looks awesome in her contacts. It's a little different because I'm not used to it but she looks so beautiful. It sounds like y'all had an awesome week. I'm so glad for that. Tell dad that meeting with Elder Oaks is a huge push church wide. That's really a big focus here. That and the rescue of less actives. This week was better we did lots of service and guess what we gave like 3 blessings this week, two of which I gave in Spanish!!! It's super cool but super hard. I'm still trying to be in tune with the spirit in blessings and now I have to do it in another language too. hahahah. We were so excited this week we had 2 investigators in church and both of them are basically ready for baptism so hopefully we will have some good news in the weeks to come but I'm knocking on wood right now.

I love you so much,

Elder Kotter

Mom

Well Sounds like everything is going really good back home! I'm so glad dad is getting his back and snoring better. I hope it helps him. I am also glad that Shelby was able to find a modest dress or at least make a modest dress. That is super important it really is. I'm kinda worried about her going to homecoming and I'm not there to scare this boy!!!!!! I hope dad will do that for me. Make sure he has the .247 out when that boy comes to pick her up.

Mom, I'm glad to hear that your schooling is going well. Its crazy how much you can learn every time you read the scriptures!!!! Ive been reading the BOM (Book of Mormon) in Spanish and it's going really well I just read about Abinadi and how he totally destroys the priest of king Noah. It's awesome he totally burns them. It actually really helped me today because Abindi went into his death basically thinking he didn't accomplish anything and his only convert, Alma, was going to be killed. He died not knowing if he had helped anybody but he knew he did the work of the Lord. That's kinda how I am feeling right now. This week we actually got a lot of help from members. A lot of appointments with less actives and out of the 20 planned lessons we got 3.... two of them were with the same family we are doing our part so we keep pushing forward.

Uhmm I didn't take any pictures this week of anything in Peru but today for p-day we are going to hike a hill which has an awesome view of Puno and the lake so I'll get that to you next week.

Well I love you so much,
Elder Kotter

DAD

Well sounds like a very intersting sacrament meeting. I wish I could help you out but don't worry after my mission hopefully I will be there to help you out. (Kendal had to speak in the Spanish Branch last Sunday where he speaks no Spanish and his interpreter spoke a little English. He also was the only speaker. It was and interesting 45 minutes.)

Dad you are right the work is hard. Whoever said Peru would be an big baptizing mission has never been here. People work all day so knocking doors doesn't really do anything until about like 7pm at night and then we eat at 8pm at night and usually we have lessons so we don't knock doors at that time. It's just hard to find people so we try to focus on less actives same kinda thing it's hard to find them. Its just hard to find people. I just wish I could help these people more, but at the same time I have realized wanting success is the natural man. The natural man in me want baptisms and lessons and good numbers. So I'm trying to just humble myself and keep in mind that the Lord's timing isnt mine and His thoughts aren't mine. I'm still trying to find out why God wants me here in Puno but I trust in him I will find out eventually.

I love you dad,
Elder Kotter

Dr. Pepper

Guess what we found in Peru DR PEPPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It cost so much but it was worth it!!!!

Letter to dad

Ok dad next week I will get you the size for the ring.

That's awesome I love hearing about those youth and it is true Satan cannot make peace. He cannot make our lives feel happy in the long run.

I have a couple of questions there have be lately in the newspapers here talk about war with Syria and also our government shutting down and huge things happening like that. Can you please give me some real news because here my companion says they over exaggerate things. Is any of this stuff true? Am i safer here in Peru?

Elder Kotter

This week experience is in moms email.

ps I know what it feels like to have a bad back the other day i fell hard on a cement curb and it knocked the wind out of me and my side has been really hurting I think I bruised the muscle but I am super lucky that I'm a missionary because i didn't break a rib or crack my skull like I should have. Don't tell mom or the girls.

More pics

This is the path from the bathroom to my room and it is cold after a shower! hahaha!

Workout

This is how we work out Puno style!

Mom

Well that neon run sounds like a freaking awesome time. How was it? Was it hard to run while people are throwing stuff at you? Me and Elder Green are doing great I have an awesome story from this week. It was Tuesday and we had nothing to do and we really didn't want to knock doors because at least here in Puno nothing really comes from it. Knocking doors is about as effective as sitting in our room. So we just were like Yeah lets go to the Duran family who are partially active. In my head i was thinking it was a good idea because it was a long walk like30 minutes and we had nothing to do but the Lord had other plans of why we would go. We went and knocked on the door. Sister Duran was pretty sick and we think she had a migraine. From the moment we entered the house we knew we would give a blessing. And we did. The Lord puts us in places for his own reason sometimes what we think are random thoughts are really inspiration from God.

I know this is really the work of the Lord.

I don't take cold showers we have a switch that i will send a pic of that makes the water hot but then you have to be careful because then you can shock yourself on the all metal shower.

Keep looking for that dress. Homecoming is the hardest dress to find because that is the style. Short as possible. But who is this boy?

Well I love you all and keep working hard.

Mom
Wow sounds like you had an awesome week!!!!!! It sounds like it was full of fun activities and parties. Yesterday we found out the transfers for the next 6 weeks. Me and Elder Green are still in Puno together until at least November 19th! Wow Ants in the cookies y'all really need to do something about that because that really is a crime!!!!!!!!! I would kill for some of your fresh homemade cookies straight out of the oven right now!!!!!!!
General Conference is like the best thing in the world to me now. I'm not sleepy and I really want to listen! It is so weird what can happen to someone in 4 months. I got super excited for every talk and the time just flew by. It felt like that conference was only 30 minutes long not 10 hours. I don't know if you picked it up but I felt like we are about to hit some major persecution within the next 10 years worse than the early saints! Stay prepared and keep praying hard.
Well the work with the members this week was well to be honest a flop. Only one of the 7 people went with us and we didn't get anything from it. Don't worry things will work we just have to wait for the Lord's timing and find his way of doing things. Please also remember the Elders too. They need your help as much as the sisters do in fact probably more. They aren't quiet as good looking as the Sisters so they have a harder time hahahaha.
WHAT SHELBY IS GOING TO HOMECOMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO IS THIS GUY WHAT IS HIS NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DID HE ASK HER!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to know this stuff.
Oh something else I was thinking for Christmas was more Suave shampoo that stuff is good and I'm half way done with it so that would be nice.
Well keep praying hard working hard and good luck in school but it sounds like you really don't need it.

I love you lots,
Elder Kotter
